NEWSBLITZ: iPhone vorgestellt - von Cisco
Apples mystisches »iPhone« wird wohl nicht »iPhone« heißen - denn Cisco stellte soeben seine neue Internet-Telefonfamilie mit diesem Namen vor:
Cisco besitzt das Recht an dem Namen »iPhone« seit 2000, meldet Businessweek. 
Die Handelsmarke »iPhone« ist sogar schon wesentlich älter: 1997 stellte Infogear ein Tischtelefon namens iPhone auf der CES in Las Vegas vor - später wurde Infogear von Cisco übernommen. Soweit bekannt, hat Apple hat den Namen »iPhone« in Großbritannien und Australien schützen lassen - in den USA hat jedenfalls Cisco die Rechte.
Cisco teilte mit, dass das iPhone Teil einer langfristigen Strategie zur Vernetzung von Privathaushalten ist, die im Januar 2007 auf der CES vorgestellt werden soll. Das iPhone funktioniert u.a. mit Skype, das nach eigenen Angaben bereits 100 Millionen registrierte Nutzer hat [Newstipp von Jonas aus Taiwan, Pressemitteilung].
Gizmodos Brian Lam hatte also Recht, als er das iPhone für heute ankündigte: es ist da, nur nicht von Apple. Ob Apples »iPhone« einen völlig anderen Namen hat oder ob man die Namensrechte mit Cisco teilen wird (ähnlich wie bei «Apple« mit der Beatles-Firma), bleibt abzuwarten. Nicht umsonst schreiben wir »iPhone« seit dem ersten Auftauchen des Namens in Anführungsstrichen…
